Family sponsorship
To be able to help a family through the purchases of food and gifts is a great way to start spreading holiday cheer this season. Unfortunately I didn't get to go for the actual shopping for gifts/giftcards for my family but I am greatly awaiting for when we will get to deliver everything to the family and when we get to meet our family .Through the Christmas bureau we are able to give a family the necessities to celebrate for one day during the holidays and I think this is a great way to give them an opportunity to be able to experience what the holidays are all about.
Food drive/Food bank
For the food drive we had to do class visits and speak to classes to inform them about the holiday food drive. I am proud of my accomplishments because I was able to speak without a paper and speak loudly enough so that everyone was able to hear what I was saying. As for the food bank it was a great learning experience as well as a hands on volunteer opportunity . We didn't get to sit at all while at the food bank there was always something to do. We were mainly in charge of organizing and handing out food and me and Amrit got the opportunity to make popcorn with an actual popcorn machine which was a lot of fun. There were other volunteers who got recognition through the open house and everyone was able to show their gratitude towards the volunteers . We also got a chance to take a picture with Santa . Overall the food bank was a great experience and I'm glad I went through with it . What made it even more enjoyable were the people that were there with me and it was a great way to be able to volunteer and help honour those who regulary work/volunteer at the food bank as well as get an idea about how the food bank actually works be seeing it in person.
First follower
From yesterday's video about the importance of a first follower through the concept of dance I was able to realize just how important a first follower is and how they don't gain much recognition. One question I now have is that if there is a leader and no one is there willing to follow them , then are they really a leader? The first follower has to have a lot of courage and has to strongly be insupport of the individual who is trying to be a leader . They are the people who will then provide encouragement for others to join in and ultimately there will be a group big enough to support what the original leaders' initial idea was and therefore make a difference/movement. That's what I learnt from that video and it was quite a fun and lighthearted way to teach the importance of a first follower

Report card November 2014
Positive attitude - I've kept a positive attitude towards all activities that we've done in this class.
I'm enjoying the opportunities we get for leadership and the volunteer opportunities in this class. It is also really enjoyable to organize events and then facilitate them as well such as the grade 8 retreat and the rememberance day assembly. I'm looking forward to doing more things like this as it helps with my speaking skills . I got the opportunity to direct others through these two events and I find myself gaining more confidence as I am a very shy person. Leadership is exactly how I imagined it would be and there's nothing I would like to change about this class . Overall I believe I deserve a G for participating in all activities and events and as for a grade I believe I deserve an A percentage. 93%
Creativity- I've tried my best to put forward opinions on how we could introduce creativity into some things
Equality - I treat everyone equally .
Respect - I've respected all individuals by listening intently when others are talking/presenting
Teamwork- I've worked well in groups for example the grade 8 retreat
Everyone's voice- once again I listen while others are speaking
Commitment- I've committed to this class therefore I believe it's my responsibility to take part in all activities that are put forward as an opportunity to grow as a leader for my community
Personal and social responsiblity- I've shown responsibility by excusing myself from my other classes when I am to be away due to an obligation for this class. I've been responsible to finish all assignment work and get caught up with anything that has been taught that day

Tree planting and farming experience
Out of the two I definitely found farming to be more enjoyable . For tree planting there were a lot of laughs shared but the weather proved to quite miserable and for me personally had a negative impact on the experience. When we went farming on the other hand, the weather was close to perfect. The tractor ride was so much fun and it felt so good to be outside . It felt great to know that all the food that I put my hard work into harvesting and sorting would go straight to those in need of food. I'm not an outdoor person but I find that this might change now because I really enjoyed farming which is surprising to me. I wasn't looking forward to it at first but now i'd jump at the chance to do it again.

Grade 8 retreat reflection!
The grade 8 retreat was quite fun but it certainly did require a lot of work and it got frustrating at times , but at the end of it , it was all worth it. It was hard to get the grade 8's to listen and pay attention and to not complain and therefore we felt as if they were more inclined to behave and have more fun if given the opportunity to bring forward options as to what we could play and that worked very well. Some grade 8's got a chance to be a leader in the group and explain how to play their game .The grade 8's enjoyed games where they could run around and be active they didn't really want to do activities such as the name game . I found my voice with the grade 8's and didn't loose my patience. A moment I had as a teacher was when I taught the grade 8's how to do a few activities and answered their questions one on one . I learnt how difficult it must be to handle a group of such energetic and hyper children. Overall, I think the grade 8 retreat went really well
